Our Confidence In His Will

In the last blog post, we talked about whether or not it’s God’s will to heal. Based on Mark 1:40-42, Jesus said that it is His will to heal. I encourage you to go back and read the blog post titled “Is it God’s will to heal?” to learn more before reading on.

Ok, so it’s God’s will to heal. Now what?

"Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him."

1 John 5:14-15

According to this scripture, He hears us when we pray for healing, because it’s His will to heal. And if He hears us, we know that we HAVE it! Do you realize that this verse is saying that whatever you ask of God, as long as it’s within His will, you already have what you have asked for?

I know what you’re thinking… How can I already have something that I am asking for? I don’t feel like I have it, that’s why I’m asking.

When you committed your life to Christ; when you were born again, your spirit-man was completely transformed into a new spirit-man (2 Corinthians 5:17-18, Ephesians 4:20-24). You were literally born again. This new spirit inside of you came loaded with every spiritual blessing that God has provided for you (Ephesians 1:3). Those spiritual blessings are yours, including freedom from all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease (Matthew 10:1).

You may not feel like you have it, but that’s the fleshly part of you speaking. In reality, you do have it - in your inner spirit. When Jesus died on the cross and rose again, He ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father. He only sat down when His work was completed, because He only had to complete this work once for all.

"For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; not that He should offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood of another - He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation."

Hebrews 9:24-28 (emphasis mine)

Christ died ONCE to save us of all our sins and the effects of sin - past, present, and future. Your inner spirit-man already has complete health. You just need to convince your flesh (what you physically feel) that this is true.

So have confidence, friends! You have been born again into His likeness (2 Corinthians 3:18). You have the healing that you have been seeking! It is His will to heal, so KNOW that you have it!
